Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Kibale forest national park

Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 5 days flying chimpanzee and gorilla habituation tour, you will connect to your domestic flight with Aerolink Uganda to Kasese airstrip. Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to Kibale forest national park and upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for an interesting Bigodi swamp walk where you will be able to spot variety of bird species like the papyrus gonolek, great blue turaco, primates like vervet monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, blue monkeys, animals like sitatunga, bushbucks among others. After the swamp walk, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days flying chimpanzee and gorilla habituation tour, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to Kanyachu visitors Centre for a chimpanzee habituation briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the chimpanzees with an experienced park guide and park rangers which takes a whole day. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species like the black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, birds among others and once the chimpanzees are found, you will be able to spend four hours with them in their habitat which gives you a chance to learn more about their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, play, mate, hunt, fight, rest, take photos and record videos. After the four hours with the chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 3: Fly to Bwindi impenetrable national park (Kisoro airstrip)

After breakfast on the third day of the 5 days flying chimpanzee and gorilla habituation tour, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with our driver guide to transfer to Kasese airstrip for your domestic flight to Kisoro airstrip. Upon arrival, you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for an optional Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people, learn about their culture, way of living among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park

You will have an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days flying chimpanzee and gorilla habituation tour, carry packed lunch and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla habituation briefing. After the briefing, you will be allocated park rangers, an experienced park guide and start trekking in the jungle. Gorilla habituation in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes a whole day and during trekking, you will be able to view other wildlife species and once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be able to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviors, habits, watch them carry out their daily activities, engage in the naming process, take photos and record videos.

After the encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will return to the starting point where you will be given a certificate for participating in gorilla habituation experience and then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
